Monica Varner with Elan Event Studio asked me help them out with a photo shoot for their website . . and of course, I jumped on it! I had a blast hanging out with the girls and dolling them up. It’s not very often that I get to do the wedding planner’s hair and makeup! Elan Event Studio specializes in wedding and event planning for the Tampa Bay area.
Karen Harrison Wedding Photography is the amazing talent that brought these images to life!

I went on October 16th to do Sarah’s hair and makeup for her engagement session. I’m always excited to do engagement sessions because it’s fun to do soft looks for my girls on a more relaxed occasion. Little did I know how stylish Sarah is! She has some amazing ideas for her look for the wedding day . .so when I do her trial I will definitely share the images for a sneak peak!! Sarah’s dress that she is wearing for this shoot was hand made in Columbia by Nuria Cañellas. It’s hard to see the fine detail in this piece, but you can check out her collection on FaceBook. She has a store is called Rojo and it is in Medellin Colombia. Amazing pieces that are unique and beautiful. . . she would do so well here in the states. Jessica Leigh is the amazing photographer that shot this session and will also be shooting the wedding day, which is July 4th, 2010.

On April 26th we had the pleasure of being apart of the Your Wedding TV Bridal Show at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tampa. We spent most of our time back stage preparing the models for the big fashion show. Their were 9 girls that we did hair and makeup for and had a blast doing it!! I had Erica and Kara there with me and they did an amazing job. Everyones hair and makeup looked beautiful! Don’t miss the next show coming up on July 26th at the Hilton Carillon Park in St Petersburg, FL.

Are you a “Natural”?

Natural brides typically don’t wear alot of makeup if any at all! A natural bride is comfortable in their own skin and is not looking for a change when it comes to their wedding day look. Makeup should be all about perfecting what you have and not about adding to it. Accentuating your natural features is what I recommend. Foundation only where you need it and then spot perfecting with a light high pigment concealer. For your eyeshadow, maybe try two shades of shadow ( maybe a soft rose on the bottom and then a light petal glow on top ) and then some mascara! Blush should be applied to accentuate your features to give a healthy glow to your skin. I always recommend a little more blush than you might wear on a daily basis ( for pictures ). A good tip for putting blush on . . .
*draw an invisibile line from the outside corner of your eye down and then from the tip of your nose out. Put your brush where the two lines meet and then apply your blush in an upward motion towards the top of your ear. This works for everyone! Try it!!!
When it comes to your lips, a little color is a must. A naturalist might not like the feel of “stuff” on their lips, so if this is you . . . then maybe try a lipliner instead. Use a soft hand and fill in completely. Now you won’t “feel” like you have stuff gooped on your lips ( and your husband to be won’t be afraid to kiss you at the alter! )
